Can Female Infanticide be stopped

Female infanticide is a practice of killing baby girls either by abortion or after her birth. This is really a shameful act being done by people across the globe. For people involved in female infanticide, males are much valuable than females, but why. Are the reasons for female infanticide much stronger and valuable than humanity? If not, then can female infanticide be stopped one day? Here, we are raising these questions not just to collect their answers but to stop this brutal act as soon as possible.

We are human beings. We should not forget the fact that God has given us a kind heart that must not be used to kill the innocent baby girls just to follow some social norms. Let us have a look at some of the major causes for female infanticide:

• Male Value over Female: Baby girls are killed because in most of the countries, a son is considered as an asset but the girl is considered a liability. Son is considered asset because he can earn money and help his family running in a better way but daughter is considered the liability because she will be married to someone else and go away one day.

• Dowry: In Countries, like India where dowry is a prominent practice during which girls are given lots of money, gifts, and household items when they are married to someone, female infanticide is quite common. When the parents come to know that the baby girl has born, they start getting worried about the finances required for her marriage. That financial sickness leads to the female killing.

• Need for descendant: Boys are considered descendant because girls are married to someone else, so cannot lead the society.

Can Female Infanticide be stopped?

Of course, female infanticide can be stopped, if this male driven world starts thinking in following ways:

• Make up your mind: The very first change that we all have to bring in us is we have to change our thinking. We should not consider girls as burden. Today, girls can earn (in fact earning) like boys then why they are killed. They can also support their families financially, so we should shred away the fact that girls are only liability. We should consider them assets like boys. For this, we have to make our society literate.

• Stop Prenatal Sex Determination: Although, Indian Government has put a ban on prenatal sex-determination, it is being carried out. Prenatal sex-determination is now a crime in India for which the tough punishments are decided, but even after that some unethical lab owners and doctors are carrying out this shameful act. As parents, we should say no to prenatal sex-determination and get ready to adopt our baby (son or daughter).

• Eradicate dowry system: We must eradicate dowry system from India, which is the biggest reason for female infanticide. When parents do not need to collect large amount of money as dowry, they will not consider daughters the liability, which helps to stop female infanticide.

• Descendant Fact: Son is considered the successor of the family; therefore, they are given the value. But, why we all forget the fact that without a mother (who is a female), son cannot come in this world? So, if you want descendant for the family, stop female infanticide.

• Do not forget that you are human: Last but not the least, do not forget that you are human. Every human has a kind heart, so look inside that heart, and ask you the question that killing someone who has not yet come in the world or has just come, is a noble cause. Your answer will be no, then why female infanticide is being done.
